The Serviced Office Company – Close to Opening in Manchester?

It has been common knowledge for almost a year now that the Serviced Office Company are to open a new business centre in the Salford Quays area of Manchester, but it’s yet to open and we’re wondering how long it is going to be and what it will bring to the market when it finally does.

The Serviced Office Company has one other centre in London’s Docklands, which looks modern, fresh and clean.  They’ve chosen another waterside location in Manchester [surely Salford? - ed] at Imperial Court, Salford Quays, which is an area soon to be dominated by the MediaCity development.

Most recently, the estimated opening date has been given as January 2009 and we will try to keep tabs on progress for you.

It will be managed by Jesse Stott, previously a Centre Manager at StoneMartin’s Peter House before Regus took over the running of the centre in April 2008.  Peter House had a reputation for fantastic quality and professional but friendly service so it is more than likely that these new offices will be run in a similar manner.  Google and Yahoo were just two of the clients who occupied suites at Peter House and we suspect Jesse will be aiming for similar high profile clients.

The main competition will be United Business Centres, who run one business centre in Salford Qays with plans to open a second, MLS and Regus.  It is unclear what the occupancy is in these centres but all are very different with varying price points, so there would be room for another uniquely positioned centre.

Their key USP seems to be on environmentally friendly aspect of their office space but whether this will be enough in the current climate is another matter.  Previously business centres have tried to charge more for ‘green’ offices, but with the fuel savings benefiting the serviced office operator then perhaps it should actually make things cheaper?

Offices North West will keep you up to date on this opening and any other new centres around the North West.  If there are any that you would like to bring to our attention then please do contact us.
