What are Hosted Solutions and why are they the cost-effective choice for your business?

Remember when all you wanted was an IT solution to fit your needs, rather than being forced into purchasing half of the Microsoft Corporation just to open an email…well here it is!

Traditionally, small and medium sized businesses have opted to install their IT hardware and software within their office space and to have the network managed by an outsourced IT Support company. This involved purchasing hardware and software, backup and security solutions together with an IT Support contract. For many small or start up companies, particularly in the current economic climate, this upfront capital expenditure can be crippling.

However, due to improved broadband speed and availability, the picture is changing. It is now possible to locate your server, software, backup and security solution in a data centre – a ‘hosted solution‘. This can be managed centrally by Converge-IT allowing you to get on with running your business.

So what does it mean in real terms:

So how does it work?
The applications (Email, Sage etc) run on a server in a datacentre and you connect via a web browser. Instead of requiring an expensive and powerful PC in your office to do all the processing, the server in the datacentre takes the strain and you simply send key strokes back and forth. This is made possible using a “thin client”, either terminal services or citrix, which means that the data is available to your staff wherever they choose to work.

What kind of business would benefit from Blue Sky Office?
This solution is ideal for small business who want to avoid high up front costs, remote workers, a salesforce on the road or for the boss who wants to check on company data from his villa in the south of France
